McDonald in Singapore has launched new items with Singapore local flavor started June 30, 2016; Salted egg yolk chicken burger, Twist & shake fries with salt and pepper crab flavored shaker, and Gula Melaka McFlurry with layer cake bites.
On the first day of the launch, people were crazy about it and many McDonald branches ran out of stock very fast. We went to McDonald in the evening and there were like 30 ques in front of us. We we told that all new items were finished and the waiting time for regular order was at least 30 minutes. At the end we left and went for coffee shop nearby for dinner instead.
The next day we went to the airport. At first we didn’t want to eat anything because we can have our meals on board. But we walked pass McDonald and there were few people in the que only. So we gave it a try and the new menus still available. We ordered one set meal to share; Salted egg yolk chicken burger and Salt & pepper crab twisted fries. The meal cost about 3 SGD more than normal meal.
The black pepper and white sesame seed buns were ok, not much taste of the sesame seeds. Fried chicken was very tender, solf inside and crispy outside. The chicken was full chunk of meat and not the chicken patty. Finally the salted egg yolk sauce with curry leaves on top was not as per expectation as I expected full blast of salted egg yolk flavor. Comparing to local Singapore salted egg yolk dish, I will give this burger 7 out of 10.
Salt & Pepper crab shaker twist fries were so good. Normally I prefer normal fries and my only favorite shaker fries is seaweed flavor. But this twisted fries will be my next favorite. Although there was no crab taste but the salt and pepper were strong but not too empowering. I will give these yummy fries 9 out of 10.
